1. Who we are
RaktMitra.org (“we”, “us”) is a non-profit blood donor directory operated by Parrikar Petro Services as a non-profit initiative. This policy explains what information we collect, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. It is intended to align with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Registered donors
- Identity and contact: full name, mobile number (verified by OTP), optional WhatsApp number and optional email.
- Donation details: blood group, optional last donation date and availability status.
- Location: state, city, optional area/locality, pincode and a map location you choose.
- Consent record: confirmation that you agreed to these terms, with timestamps.
2.2 Seekers (people who search)
- Verified mobile number (via OTP) and a technical user ID.
- When you reveal a donor's number: the donor you contacted, the purpose you entered and the time (the “contact log”).
2.3 Contact form
Name, email, optional phone, topic and your message.
2.4 Technical data
Our hosting and authentication providers may process IP addresses, device and browser information for security, abuse prevention and service delivery. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser stores small preferences (such as theme and sign-in status) locally on your device.
3. Why we use it
- To let verified seekers find suitable donors in an emergency.
- To verify phone numbers and prevent spam, bots and misuse.
- To keep an accountable record of who contacted which donor, so misuse can be investigated.
- To respond to enquiries and requests to update or delete data.
- To show anonymous totals (for example, number of donors per blood group) on our website.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal data, and we do not use it for marketing.
4. What other users can see
- The general public (not signed in) sees no donor information, only anonymous totals.
- Verified, signed-in users can see a donor's masked name (e.g. “Ra••• S.”), blood group, state, city, area, pincode, approximate location (rounded to about 1 km), availability and last donation date.
- A verified seeker who states the patient or hospital details can see that donor's mobile and WhatsApp numbers.
- Your full name, email and exact location are never shown to other users.
5. OTP verification and service providers
Mobile verification uses Firebase Authentication by Google, which sends the SMS and may show a reCAPTCHA check. Data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore and the website is served by Firebase Hosting. Maps and address search use Google Maps Platform; when you use the map, Google may process your IP address and the locations you search for. Pincode lookup uses a public postal directory service. These providers process data under their own privacy terms, and some processing may take place outside India.
6. Retention
Donor profiles are kept until you delete them or ask us to. Contact logs and requests are kept for up to 24 months for safety and accountability, then deleted. Contact form messages are kept for up to 12 months. We may delete inactive profiles after notice.
7. Your rights and choices
- Access and correction: view and edit your details anytime on My profile.
- Pause: switch your availability off.
- Deletion: delete your profile instantly from My profile, or send a deletion request to our moderators.
- Withdraw consent: deleting your profile withdraws consent for future processing.
- Grievances: contact our grievance officer (below). We aim to respond within 7 working days.
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Database access rules restrict each type of information to the people listed above. No system is perfectly secure, so please tell us at once if you suspect misuse.
9. Children
Donors must be at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
